on the house American guitar players seem to have this crazy relationship with electric guitars that makes the whole world stand back and scratch their heads. It's a bizarre and twisted road we've traveled 60 years. Though the trailhead actually started in the late 30's, the 40's dealt with turning guitar pickup & amp designs, theory and great ideas into practical application for the player.

The 50's brought us the new concept of solid body guitars to play new music with. It was a perfect match. With folks like Les Paul and Leo Fender introducing guitar ideas wildly departed from the road in which all guitar players trudged, our world began to change and we never looked back! So a new era begins.

The rock players of the 50's, 60's & 70's made their guitar choices by and large from the cutting edge players of post war blues, rockabilly & country players. The 3 top contenders in the solidbody guitars are the Fender Stratocaster, Fender Telecaster and Gibson's Les Paul. There are of course many others, but these are the 3 kings. The strat turned 50 this year... let's take a moment to kneel and give praise.

For me and my music, I have a tendency and preference to lean to the single coil pickup tones. This includes the P90 single coil that debuted on the early Gibson electrics. Don't get me wrong, humbuckers is a beautiful thing, it's just ... well dang it ... there's something about a single coil that makes me feel good!

In this section I'll share with you my four main electric guitars I currently use in the studio and at my shows. Don't let the pictures deceive your eyes if you hadn't noticed already. I am a lefthanded guitar player that strings his guitar righthanded. I originally learned to play with a righthanded guitar and before I knew it, ten years flew by before I actually owned a lefthanded guitar!
